Invisalign took the dental world by storm when it first came on the scene, and it’s still one of, if not the most popular options for straightening teeth. Everyone knows it to be the clear brace that’s almost ‘invisible’ – after all, the clue is in the name! But what about what they don’t tell you about treatment? Well, our orthodontists here in Loughborough always believe in 100% transparency (and not just with clear braces), so we’re here to tell you everything!
What They Don’t Tell You About Invisalign: Part 2!
1. Invisalign treatment is incredibly precise
One of the great things about Invisalign – which many people don’t realise – is that the treatment involves scanning your smile and producing images that show not only how your teeth will move throughout your treatment, but your expected final result. You can effectively try before you buy! While some cases do have a refinement period, and retainers may be recommended afterwards, generally speaking, with Invisalign, what you see is what you’ll get.
2. You can take a break when you need to
With fixed braces, you’re stuck – literally – wearing them until the end of your treatment. Invisalign is removable, which means you can pop it off when you need a break if you’re eating, or when it’s time to brush and floss. As long as you wear those comfy, clear braces for around 22 hours per day, there shouldn’t be any impact on your treatment. Best of all, you can get a case to store it in, so there’s no need to worry about losing or breaking your adult braces.

3. You can track your Invisalign journey as you go
Harking back to our earlier point about Invisalign’s clever scanning technology, these adult braces work with a special app that lets you know when it’s time to change to a new set of aligners, and what your teeth should look like. All that – in your pocket! It’s a great tool, as not only does it make you more aware of what’s happening in your mouth (and with such small movements at a time, it can seem hard to see those changes), but it also keeps you motivated towards your smile goals.
