Multiple Implants

RESTORE YOUR SMILE

There are a variety of restoration options for replacing a number of missing teeth, but none come close to dental implants. Missing teeth are more than just a cosmetic problem; they also undermine oral health. Your jawbone’s strength is dependent on its interaction with your teeth, and where teeth are missing, those sections of jaw can lose bone density and volume, weakening the shape and structure of your jaw.

Implants are the gold standard of dental restorations, as they are fixed straight into the jawbone, which ossifies around the newly fitted teeth, strengthening the bond. If looked after properly, dental implants can last for decades.

The benefits

Though other dental restorations might look almost as natural as implants, and restore function to a large degree, dental implants have several unique benefits, including:

  • Last for decades
  • Avoid damaging surrounding teeth
  • Maintain the health and strength of your jaw
  • Replicate the cosmetic appearance of natural teeth
  • Form a bond with your jaw as strong as your natural teeth

FAQs

Made from titanium screws, dental implants are extremely durable and fuse directly with your jawbone, making them the longest lasting and strongest dental restoration available. Much like natural teeth, well-looked-after implants can last for decades.

Dental bridges are an effective restoration solution and are more affordable than implants, but dental implants have several advantages that a bridge can’t match:

  • They are far more durable
  • They fuse directly with the jaw
  • They support the bone health of your mouth
  • Unlike a dental bridge, implants won’t cause damage to the surrounding teeth

The surgical procedure is minor and is carried out using local anaesthetic. Any post-surgical discomfort can be easily managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

If you are generally healthy and you have sufficient jawbone to support implants, you are highly likely to be suitable. Our expert clinician will examine your mouth and jaw, consult your medical history, and take X-rays to ensure dental implants would be right for you.

The tissue surrounding your implants will be very tender after surgery. To protect your dental restorations during the healing process you will need to eat a carefully planned diet, which will initially consist of soft, protein-rich foods such as smoothies, soups, and yoghurts. We will give you specific aftercare instructions during your consultation. Once the healing process is complete, your implants’ strength will enable you to revert to your usual diet, although it might be best to avoid extremely sticky or tough food in the long term to protect not only your implants but your remaining healthy teeth as well.
